Ques: Does my session timeout?
Ans :   Yes. If you have been inactive on itimes for half an hour or more, then you will be automatically signed out from itimes.

 

Ques: What does the ‘Remember Me’ button on the login page mean?
Ans : By checking in the ‘Remember me’ feature, every time you come to itimes, your user name and password will be automatically remembered by the computer.
However, uncheck ‘Remember me’ on your computer, especially when using a public system

 

Ques: How do I sign up for itimes?
Ans :  There are three ways to sign up for itimes.     
    
Invite

  • You have to be invited by an itimer. A link will be sent to your email id. Clicking on this link will take you to the registration page. Just register and join!
  • You can also send an invite request to the itimes admin. Just click on the ‘request for invite’, button and submit your email id. You shall be receiving a link, click on it and register yourself.

Passcode

  • If you have received a passcode, just log onto the itimes page and enter your passcode. Register and join.

 

Ques: What do I do if I forget my login password?
Ans : If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Forgot Password” button. An email with your login details will be sent to the email address provided by you during registration.

 

Quest: How many times can I enter a wrong authentication?
Ands: There is no limit to the number of times you can enter a wrong authentication!

 

Quest: How can I change my username?
Ans : Your user name stays the same as when you had registered for itimes. But your name that will be displayed in your profile can be changed using the Edit profile option.

 

Ques: How can I reactivate my account?
Ans : If the account is disabled because of ‘Report Abuse’, then you have to write an email to the admin for getting your account reactivated.

Ques: How can I protect my privacy?
Ans : You can decide how public you want your profile to be. Simply Edit the privacy settings available on your profile and choose accordingly. These privacy settings are of 3 types; private, friends only and public.

 

Ques: How can I control who views my profile?
Ans : You can control who views your profile by editing the privacy settings to private.

 

Ques: Can others know when I view their profiles?
Ans : Yes, when you view other users’ profiles, they are notified automatically.

 

Ques: How do I report abuse?
Ans : If you find any content to be of an abusive nature, you can report it by clicking the ‘Report Abuse’ link provided. The report abuse button is available in the following sections:

  • Public profile of the user
  • Community

 

Ques: What happens when I report abuse?

Ans : An email is sent to the admin along with the content reported. The admin has the final authority to delete/disable the content or account.

 

Ques: Who can view my status?
Ans : All the users on itimes can view your status message.

 

Ques: How do I change my status?
Ans : When you click on the current status tab, you will be provided with a dropdown of the default status symbols available. You can also write your own message in the box provided.

 

Ques: How can I customize ‘My Page’?
Ans : You can hide your mini modules by changing the privacy settings to private/only friends.

 

Ques: Can other users see mini modules when I remove them from my profile?
Ans : Once the module has been removed, it is not visible to users.

 

Ques: How can I invite all my email contacts to itimes?
Ans :  You can enter your friends email contacts in Profile>>Friends>>Invite friends. Click on the invite button to send an invitation to all your contacts.

 

Ques: How can I use the edit options on the Friends mini-module?
Ans : The options in the edit button can be used in the following ways:

  • Use the ‘Show items’ option to choose the number of friends you wish to display on the mini-module
  • Use the ‘View’ option to choose whether you want to list only your profile friends or both profile and email friends on the friends tab.
  • Use the ‘Set this module as’ option to determine your privacy settings.
  • Use the minimize button to minimize the friends module in your profile page.
  • Use the delete button to remove the friends’ module from your profile page.

 

Ques: Can I choose the friends that I want to show in the friends mini-module on the Profile page?
Ans : The most recently added friends by you are displayed in the friend’s mini-module.

Ans : Tags are simply the words used to describe a user’s personality and tastes . The words given by users as descriptions of their personality, will help like minded people find them on the site. For example: ‘Funny’, ‘beautiful’, ‘sarcastic’, etc.

Ans : This section will keep you informed of the new elements on itimes everyday. Each day a new feature will be posted, so that you know more about the features and are updated about the new activities onboard. 

 

Ques: How do I add applications?
Ans : Go to Profile>Add Content and then click on the ‘Add’ button on your chosen application.

 

Ques: How can I use RSS feeds?
Ans : Simply paste the RSS/Atom Feed of the site you want, and click ‘Save’. You can also choose from the content already provided in the defined categories.

 

Ques: What are notifications?
Ans : Notifications keep you informed of the list of invitations you have received everyday.

 

Ques: What is ‘level’ in friends?
Ans : When you add friends, you need to tell us, how you know them. You can categorize your friends in 5 levels – Haven’t Met / Acquaintance / Friend / Good Friend and Best Friend.

 

Ques: What is the difference between ‘My Communities’ and ‘Owned Communities’?
Ans : My Communities are the communities you have joined as a member. Communities which you have created, form a part of Owned Communities.

 

Ques: What is the URL field in the create a community option?
Ans : While creating a community, you can subscribe to any other community, by providing its URL in the given space. With this facility, you can aggregate your groups at the same place in itimes.

 

Ques: What is the difference between a public and a moderated community?
Ans : A public community, as the name suggests, is open to the public – anyone can join in. To join a moderated community, you have to take an approval from the moderator in question.

 

Ques: What is persona?
Ans : Your persona is nothing but what your friends perceive of you! There are three icons provided against each of your friend’s profile – Angel, Devil and Swank. To rate anyone go to Profile>Friends and simply click on the icons provided.

 

Ques: Where can I see my persona?
Ans : You can view your persona in your ‘Profile’ page.

Ans : You can view your friend’s persona on their public profile page.

Ans : You can import any number of blogs. There are no restrictions in the number.

 

Ques: Can I read the blogs posted by non-friends?
Ans : Yes, blog entries are open to viewing by all users.

 

Ques: How can I choose category for my blog?
Ans : You simply have to click on the blogs tab, go to create a new post and choose a category from the dropdown options provided.

 

Ques: Where can I view the tags of blogs?
Ans :  When creating a blog the option for tag is mentioned. The tags can be edited through edit option for  the blog. Moreover the tag cloud shows the most frequently used tags.

 

Ques: Can I comment on a blog post of a non-friend?
Ans :  You can comment on any blog post.

Ques: How does the Storyline application work?
Ans : The application allows you to start a story. Write a few lines and post it. Another user can add his/ her own bit to the story and continue it. A story chain is created and the end result is fun and interesting to read.

 

Ques: Can I add to the stories of non-friends?
Ans : No, you can only add to the stories written by your friends.

 

Ques: How many stories can I create?
Ans : You can start an unlimited number of stories.

 

Ques: What is “My contributions”?
Ans : The ‘My Contributions’ tab displays the stories you have contributed to.

 

Ques: What is the character limit for writing a story?
Ans : If a story is being written for the first time, its limit is 65,000 characters. This does not include the contributions from friends.

 

Ques: Can I read the stories written by non-friends?
Ans : Yes, stories written by users are open to public view.

 

Ques: How many users can contribute to a particular story?
Ans : There are no limits to the number of users that can contribute to a story. The more, the better.

Ques: Can I upload multiple account’s photos and videos in the Import section of Gallery?
Ans : No, only one Username can be typed at a time.

 

Ques: Can I upload videos from my desktop?
Ans : No. You can only upload videos to youtube and provide the link on itimes.

 

Ques: What is the maximum number of photos I can upload?
Ans : An unlimited number, but the maximum size of each photo should not exceed 5MB.

 

Ques: What is the maximum number of videos that I can upload?
Ans : As many as you wish. No limits.

 

Ques: How can I upload photos in bulk?
Ans : To upload photos in bulk follow the steps:

  • Go to Profile
  • Click on Gallery
  • In the Upload module click on ‘upload multiple photos’

The upload is done through ActiveX, which is the platform/software to upload the images. If the user does not have ActiveX then there are options on the page to download it.

 

Ques: What is the maximum number of photos I can upload in the multiple upload option?
Ans : You can upload as many photographs as you wish. No limits.

 

Ques: How can I edit or delete a photo?
Ans : Click on Profile>>Gallery. Mouse-over on any photo will display options of view large, edit and delete. Choose what you want to do and click.

 

Ques: Can I edit or delete the pictures or videos that I have imported?
Ans : No imported pictures or videos can be edited or deleted.

Ques: How many food items can I throw in a day?
Ans : It depends on the number of moolahs you have.

 

Ques: Can I throw food on a non-friend?
Ans : No. The Food Fight is restricted to friends only.

 

Ques: How can I earn Moolahs?
Ans : Moolahs is the virtual currency of itimes. Click on Profile>>Food fight>>Moolahs in hand>>Click here to earn more Moolahs.

Ques: How do I view the food fight menu?

Ques: What is the maximum amount of Moolahs I can earn in a day?
Ans : There is no limit on the amount of Moolahs you can earn. Keep answering questions and earn Moolahs. Even if you exhaust your quota of questions, new ones will pop up, giving you the opportunity to earn more.

 

Q. Can I use these Moolahs for other transactional purposes?
Ans. No. Moolahs are only virtual currency on the itimes space. They cannot be used for transactional purposes.

Q.1 How do I enter a chat?

There are two ways to enter the itimes instachat

1. Click on “Chat” from the top navigation bar

 
 
2. Click on the chat widget on the Home page  
 

Q.2 Can I create a room and how?

Yes, both public and private chat rooms can be created. To create a room click on any existing room and choose the option create new room

       

Q.3 How many chat room can I be logged In to?

A user can be in 4 chat rooms at a time. Switching can happen among all the active chat rooms of a user.

Q.4 How can I switch between chat rooms?

User can toggle between active chat rooms through the task bar

Q.8 How do I invite friends to a Chat room?

Click on a user’s name whom you would like to invite. Choose the option 'invite to room'. 'invite to room' diplays the active rooms the user is logged in to.

The chat application displays each component in a window format. Each window can then be repositioned, closed, resized, maximized or minimized to the task bar.
Windowed Interface
Window Action Description
Minimize Minimizes the window to the task bar. The window can only be restored by clicking on its respective task in the task bar.
Maximize Maximizes the window to the application size. The window size will be tagged to the maximum available application size
Undo maximize Untags the window from the application size.
Close Closes the window.

Task Bar & Start Menu
instachats application are listed in and managed from the task bar at the bottom. A menu can be activated via the button on the lower left corner of the screen.

Clicking on the desktop brings up this menu. It replicates all functions in the Start Menu described in the section above, together with some window and desktop management settings.

Cascade Windows Stacks up all windows from the top left corner of the screen.

Status Shows a sub-menu of online status to switch to.

    Click on the room window. Create new room option is displayed. User may choose to create a private or public chat room
  • Enter Room
    Click on the name of the room to be displayed the option to join the room. If the room is private a password will be required to enter .
  • Delete This Room
    Delete room. (for creators of room only)
    Enter Room in Group
Rooms Window To enter a room, double click on its name. The number in brackets beside the room name reflects the number of users in the room. Each room may have different properties as listed.
  • Open Open
    Normal open room.
  • Closed Closed
    Normal users are unable to enter closed rooms.
  • Private Private
    Hidden from rooms list, accessible only by entering room name.
  • Password Required Password Required
    Password is required to enter this room, which is prompted by a popup.

A user may create temporary rooms which will exist until the creator logs out or when the room is empty.
  • Parent Group
    Indicates the group that the new room will be created under.
  • Room Name
    Name of the new room.

    Password required to enter room.
  • Private Room

Each chat session occurs within a chat window. It contains the chat area, the list of users in the chat, and an input panel.

Chat Input Panel
Main text box for user input, including formatting options. When whispering, the background of the input panel will indicate the whisper target's name.

  • Set myself as "Away" if I am inactive
    Allow auto-switching to away after inactive period
  • Inactivity Period
    Period of inactivity before switching to away

Allows management of a list of users to ignore. When ignored, private messages from the user will not be received.
